Constitution Bylaws SEAMi Vision

Objectives:
To provide a forum for structural engineers to exchange ideas and experiences.
To provide guidance towards the development of professional standards and design guidelines.
To provide a resource for technical matters concerning codes and specifications.
To develop a unified voice for all structural engineers in matters of minimum design requirements and safety for the public.

General SEAMi Information:
SEAMi was first established in 1997, starting out from several founding A/E firms and key structural engineers in the state.
SEAMi currently has about 200 members, which includes the Member level and Associate Member level. For more information on membership in SEAMi, see the Membership page.
At present, SEAMi exists on a state level only, with elected Board of Directors and Officers. Both a Constitution and Bylaws have been in-place from the inception with some revisions in the works. A Strategic Plan has recently been drafted by the Board of Directors and if being fine-tuned. Plans are currently in the planning stages to develop local chapters of SEAMi. See the Local Chapters page to more up-to-date information.
SEAMi has a multi-pronged vision. One of SEAMi's principal beliefs is that the organization "will not be just another excuse to meet" and that social and personal benefits will result from membership and participation.
SEAMi is a member organization of the National Council of Structural Engineers Association (NCSEA). Other related organizations are the Council of American Structural Engineers (CASE) and the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
SEAMi sponsors monthly dinner presentations, with topics ranging from loading conditions through geotechnical interface and fire protection. Many of these presentations represent breaking technology of importance. SEAMi will soon be offering professional development hours (PDHs) for these presentations as part of continuing education. For more information on upcoming meetings, see the SEAMi News page.
