the participation of Structural Engineers in the
formulation of public policy at local, state and national levels,
particularly where public health, safety and welfare are involved;
we must shape the political agenda affecting our profession.

In providing
professional development opportunities for practicing
Structural Engineers with a focus on professionalism,
practice oriented subjects and high standards of ethical behavior;
we must shape our practice environment.

In advocating
quality education in engineering and in
contributing to pre-college mathematics and science education
and career guidance of qualified students into structural engineering;
we must shape the future of our profession.

In encouraging
continuing education for all professionals;
we must maintain the state-of-the-art and be ever vigilant
to
the advancement of technology and materials.

In establishing
procedures and practice guidelines for
responding to state and public concerns regarding structures,
such as industrial accidents and environmental disasters;
we must raise the public awareness of our profession and its
resources.

In establishing
an emergency preparedness network of competent
and trained structural engineers throughout the state;
we must share our knowledge and expertise with those in need.

In providing
a professional network for Structural Engineers
of all areas of concentration and practice;
we must be the organization to which Structural Engineers
who share our mission want to belong.

In providing
a sound and effective organization by active
communication with, and support of NCSEA, our membership,
Chapters, Student Chapters and other technical Societies;
we must serve our profession with honor.
